Navigation, Runtime, and Status

The main Pitchblend workspace is the local Geist interface inside the desktop
app. Its sidebar opens the five everyday work areas, while the bars above and
below the page summarize the current workspace.

Use the sidebar

Select the Pitchblend brand at the top of the sidebar to return to Chat.
The subtitle under the product name is Private Local AI workbench.

The five navigation entries are:

  • Chat — Conversations opens the message composer and chat history.
  • Workflows — Automations opens the visual workflow builder.
  • Files — Local context manages documents that chats can reference.
  • Models — Providers manages local model files and lists online providers.
  • Settings — Defaults changes the runtime and generation defaults.

The heading at the top of the workspace changes to Chat, Workflows,
Files, Models, or Settings to match the selected page.

Pitchblend also adds its account control near the bottom of the sidebar. Read
Account and Licenses for
sign-in and license actions.

Read the Runtime summary

The right side of the top bar reports the current default runtime:

  • Runtime loading means the app is still reading saved settings.
  • Settings unavailable means it could not read those settings.
  • local means new conversations use a model on this computer.
  • online means new conversations use an online provider. A second chip
    names that provider.
  • The final value is the selected model. No model selected means a usable
default has not been chosen yet.

The summary describes saved defaults; it does not prove that a local model is
installed or that an online provider has valid credentials. Use
Models to install and activate a local
model, then use Settings to choose
the default runtime.

Understand the bottom status bar

The Geist status bar normally shows Ready and Local workspace.
Pitchblend places the Memory Sync launcher in this area; see
Memory Sync.

Ready is a fixed workspace label in v1.0, not a live health test. If a page
shows a more specific loading state, warning, or error, trust that message over
the word Ready. For example, Settings unavailable, a model download
error, or Error: ... in Chat still needs attention.

When a page is loading or unavailable

Each page owns its detailed status:

  • Chat shows generation, model-loading, file-reference, and tool status near
    the conversation.
  • Files, Models, and Settings show notices inside their pages.
  • Workflow run results show their own completed or failed status.
  • About reports whether system information could be loaded.

Use the sidebar to leave and reopen a page when a list needs to be refreshed.
The normal workspace has no separate customer-facing diagnostics page. The
conditional Developer settings tab and local API pages are development
surfaces, documented in
Developer and Attach Modes.
